Volunteering opportunities are encouraged on a group as well as individual basis. As a group, Innercept residents participate in projects associated with various non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Head Start, Department of Parks and Recreation, and The Humane Society to name a few. On an individual basis, Innercept staff can utilize volunteerism in the programs to help develop employment skills in the residents and commitment to the structure of a weekly schedule prior to or in addition to employment or academic endeavors. For some, volunteering can act as a resume builder for future employment, especially if they have not had any previous work experience.
Our goal is to teach good citizenship and cooperation in the home, in the community, and in the world. These opportunities also teach stewardship in how we care for our environment and how we utilize and share resources. Volunteerism teaches us to look outside our own experience and learn acceptance of other’s challenges.
