Gary Stanton, P.h.D. Director of Clinical Services & Education Bio: Dr. Stanton received his Bachelor of Science from Eastern Washington University in 1977 where he majored in Developmental Psychology. Continuing at Eastern Washington, Dr. Stanton completed his Masters in Child Development in 1979. Dr. Stanton consulted with numerous school districts in his twenty year career with elementary and secondary education as a Certified School Psychologist. Dr. Stanton has provided psychometric assessment, coordination of special education services, and teacher consultation across suburban and rural communities and within multicultural settings. While with the Coeur d’Alene School District, Dr. Stanton provided coordination of the Gifted/Talented program as well as coordination of special education, parent counseling and staff training, as well as completing psychometric testing and supervising interns. Beginning in 1986, Dr. Stanton provided coordination to the University of Idaho both as an Affiliate Faculty Member and as a coordinator of the Counselor in Training Program. He continues to teach future clinicians through the University of Idaho. In 1997, Dr. Stanton completed his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology/Counseling from the University of Idaho. Additionally, in 1997 Dr. Stanton joined the team at Northwest Psychiatric Associates, P.A. where he has participated in the development of the Residential Program at North Idaho Behavioral Health, Kootenai Academy and a specific Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder assessment and treatment track. Dr. Stanton is a strong advocate for students with learning and emotional disabilities. As an avid believer in the benefits of exercise and healthy living upon a student’s ability to learn and grow, Dr. Stanton participated in the development of Innercept. Dr. Stanton takes part not only in the therapeutic process at Innercept, but he involves himself in student interests for physical activities: running, biking, hiking, sailing as well as downhill and cross country skiing. |
