Eric Swanbeck, M.S.

 

Coordinator of Vocational Support and Community Relations

 

Bio: A Massachusetts native that has lived all over the United States, Eric now calls Coeur d’Alene his permanent home. After graduating from SUNY Brockport in New York, he spent three years playing professional soccer before returning to complete his education at West Virginia University. There, he earned a Masters degree in Education. Since earning his degree in 1979 he has worked at the collegiate level coaching soccer and teaching courses in the area of human development. While coaching the sport of soccer during that time, he was very successful in taking his teams to many conference and national championship tournaments. He has a great love for the outdoors and is well versed in backpacking, kayaking, camping, hiking and photography. He regularly leads residents into the back woods and up to beautiful mountain lakes in Montana and Idaho.

Responsibilities: Eric is responsible for the vocation and volunteering aspects of the Innercept programming. He helps create the vocation systems and individualized plans for residents, providing sessions with each student needing a job or volunteer experience. Weekly life skills groups in all programs regarding these aspects of the programming are led by Eric as he strives to teach topics such as resume writing, interviewing, banking skills and job performance skills, to name a few. He plans volunteer opportunities for each program as well as helping to plan and lead out in recreational programming throughout the Innercept programs. Eric’s role supports the program Coordinator of the Young Adult Transition Program in the areas of emergent need and milieu management.
