Debbie McElwain, R.N. Adolescent Program Clinical Coordinator Bio: Debbie McElwain is the Program Coordinator of the Adolescent Program. She was born and raised in Montana, and moved to Coeur d’Alene to attend nursing school fifteen years ago. Debbie graduated from the North Idaho College Nursing Program in 1996, and has worked in various capacities as a Registered Nurse. Prior to joining the team at Innercept, she worked as a nurse at Kootenai Behavioral Health Center serving children and adolescents. She worked on both acute and residential units. Her years of experience in this field have provided her with the in-depth understanding of the learning, behavioral and/or mental health challenges facing the students enrolled at Innercept. Debbie’s enthusiasm for her work and team-oriented approach to leadership help facilitate a peaceful, fun living environment with many teachable moments each day that stretch the students in such a way as to promote health and emotional growth. Her belief in each student’s strengths and potential leads to her creative problem solving methods and advocacy style. Responsibilities: The implementation of program schedules and treatment plans are done by the Program Coordinator. Also, she coordinates all transportation, resources and update calls to parents and Education Consultants. Debbie provides administrative support and coverage, as well as oversight of the physical environment of the homes associated with the Adolescent Intensive and Adolescent Transition Programs. |
